    • In 1995, General Motors continued to manufacture its 1500 Sierra line of half-ton trucks, a model it first produced in 1988. General Motors uses the "C/K" as a catchall term to designate any of its "C" line of two-wheel drive and "K" line of four-wheel drive vehicles. In 1995, prospective buyers could purchase a 1500 with a regular or extended cab, one of two bed lengths -- 6.5 feet or 8 feet -- and in a number of trim levels.

    Engine

    • In 1995, with two exceptions, GMC outfitted the 1500 with its 4.3-liter displacement V6 engine. This engine used an electronic fuel injection in an overhead-valve configuration with two valves per cylinder, for 12 valves. The engine bore measured 4.0 inches and its stroke measured 3.48 inches.

Any 1500 extended cab with the longer bed length came equipped with GMC's 5.0-liter displacement V8. This engine also used two valves per cylinder in an overhead-valve configuration, for 16 valves. It had a bore of 3.74 inches and a stroke of 3.48 inches.

Buyers who purchased an extended cab model with the shorter bed length could upgrade to the 5.0-liter V8.

    Transmission

    • General Motors equipped all 1995 models of the 1500 with a five-speed manual transmission. Buyers could upgrade to a four-speed automatic. Prospective buyers could also choose between rear-wheel drive, or RWD, and four-wheel drive, or 4WD, models.

    Performance

    • General Motors 4.3-liter V6 produced 160 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 235 foot-pounds of torque at 2,400 rpm. This engine had a compression ratio of 9.3-to-1. The 5.0-liter engine cranked out 175 horsepower at 4,200 rpm and 265 foot-pounds of torque at 2,800 rpm. Inside each cylinder, this engine achieved a compression ratio of 9.1-to-1. All models of the 1500 could tow a maximum of 7,500 lbs.

Fuel economy varied by the transmission, drive and engine installed. A RWD 1500 using the 4.3-liter engine earned 16 mpg during city driving and 21 mpg when driven on the highways. Four-wheel drive models with that engine earned 14 to 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highways.

A RWD 1500 using the 5.0-liter V8 earned 14 mpg in the city and 18 to 19 mpg on the highways. Any 4WD 1500 equipped with the 5.0-liter V8 rated 13 mpg during city driving and 16-17 mpg when driven on the highways.

    Dimensions

    • The dimensions of a 1500 in 1995 depended on the size of the truck bed and the type of cab. A 1500 varied in length from 194.5 inches for the regular cab with a 6.5-ft bed to 213.4 inches for the regular cabs with an 8-ft bed.

Those models equipped with the extended cab option had a length of either 218.5 inches with the 6.5-ft bed or 237.4 inches with the 8-ft bed. These models had a wheelbase of 141.5 inches and 155.0 inches, respectively.

The width of any 1500 was either 76.8 inches or 77.1 inches with a height of either 70.6 inches or 73.8 inches. The curb weight of each model varied as well, with the 4.3-liter equipped regular cab using RWD weighing a low of 3,739 lbs and the 5.0-liter, 4WD extended-cab "Club Coupe" models weighing the most, at 4,803 lbs.
