How to Make Your Hair Soft and Shiny at Home
- 1). Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. When your body is dehydrated the first place it takes water from is your hair, making it dull and rough.
- 2). Improve your diet. Add foods rich in vitamin E to your diet, namely leafy vegetables, nuts and brown rice. Vitamin E is necessary for shiny, soft hair.
- 3). Deep condition your hair a few times a week. Do this at home by massaging conditioner into your hair and letting it sit for at least 10 minutes so it can work more efficiently.
- 4). Check to see if your shampoo and conditioner are heat activated. If not, replace them with heat activated products. They will help lock in moisture when you use a hair dryer, curler or straightener.
- 5). Make a hair mask by mixing together the avocado, baking powder and olive oil. Put it on your hair at least once a week for 10 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water.
- 6). Massage a natural oil into your scalp. The best hair oil is natural mustard oil. It is better to get somebody else to do it to make sure it is massaged into the roots thoroughly but you can also do it yourself. Leave it in for a few hours or overnight before washing it off. You may have to rinse a few times to get the smell out.
- 7). Moisturize the ends of your hair with a mild hand lotion to make them soft and glossy.
- 8). Put a small amount of shine serum into your hair. Don't use too much or it will make your hair look oily instead of soft and shiny,
- 9). Get a trim regularly. About every three months go to your hair dresser and get the rough ends cut off. This will not only improve hair growth but replenish your hair's softness.
