Most professionals working in this field have at least a bachelors degree in criminal justice , if not a masters or a doctorate. The more education you have, the higher level jobs youll qualify for. Criminal justice, aviation management, police science and public administration are popular fields of study. It isnt necessarily a requirement to have a specific degree, as long as you have studied something at the bachelorette or post-bachelorette level. There are several requirements, though, including the following:
- US citizens only
- No older than 37 years of age at time of appointment (experienced law enforcement personnel may be exempt)
- Minimum three years related experience
- Minimum one year specialized experience at FV-G level
- Must meet health, medical and physical strength requirements
- Completion of two seven-week courses at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center or Federal Air Marshal Service before being assigned to a field office
