How to Repair a Kenmore Gas Range Door Spring
- 1). Disconnect the range's power source, either by unplugging the range from the wall outlet or by turning off the breaker in your service panel.
- 2). Open the oven door, then locate the hinge locks, located on each door hinge.
- 3). Move the hinge locks down, toward the oven door.
- 4). Move the oven door to the broil-stop position, then lift the door up and off the range. Place the door on a solid surface.
- 5). Remove the screws securing the door handle to the door.
- 6). Remove the screws at the bottom of the oven door.
- 7). Lift the inner door panel up and out of the outer door panel so you are able to access the hinges.
- 8). Remove the screw or screws securing the hinge in position.
- 9). Lift the inner door panel, then pull the hinge out of the panel.
- 10
Insert the new hinge into the door panel from the underside of the panel. - 11
Secure the new hinge into position, using the mounting screw or screws that were removed from the old hinge. - 12
Place the inner door panel into the outer door panel, then replace the screws at the bottom of the door. - 13
Align the door handle, then secure it into position using the two door handle screws. - 14
Lift the door with both hands and hold it at a 45-degree angle so that the hinges are horizontal. Insert the hinges into the hinge slots on the door jamb. - 15
Open the door fully. Move the hinge locks up, toward the door jamb, to lock the door. - 16
Close the oven door, then restore power to the range.
