How To Connect Downspouts to Drainage Tiles

• 1). Dig a trench or dry well 5 to 6 inches wide and 8 to 12 inches deep and sloped away from the house. Cover the bottom with 2 inches of washed gravel.
  
  
• 2). Attach the adapter to the downspout or downspout elbow. Fasten with two sheet metal screws.
  
  
• 3). Lay out the perforated pipe to the full required length. Snap the pipe to the adapter.
  
  
• 4). Fill around the pipe with gravel to the surface level, or top with 2 to 4 inches of coarse sand or excavated soil to surface level and seed for grass cover.
