Whether you prefer a luxury hotel suite with a jacuzzi tub or a mountain lodge with a cozy fireplace, Washington has many diverse locations that should provide an ideal post-wedding escape for a single night or an extended vacation.
  
  

San Juan Islands

• Travel 77 miles north from Seattle to Anacortes and board a ferry to the San Juan Islands for a romantic island getaway. With stops at Lopez, Shaw, Orcas and San Juan islands, honeymooners can island hop or set up a home base at a hotel or bed and breakfast and explore during the day. Sea planes also fly directly from Seattle to the San Juan Islands, offering a bird's-eye view of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. Orcas Island and San Juan Island are the most populated islands and have the most options for travelers' accommodations as well as restaurants, shops and marinas. On horseshoe-shaped Orcas Island, Deer Harbor Inn has rooms with private hot tubs, while historic Rosario Resort and Spa features a honeymoon suite perched over the bay. Lake Chelan

• Lake Chelan's location east of the Cascade Mountains means honeymooners traveling from western Washington may have sunnier skies in the spring and summer or snow-covered mountain backdrops in the winter. Lakefront resorts such as Campbell's and Grandview have luxury suites with access to sandy beaches and are within walking distance to the downtown area's shops and restaurants. Sip a glass of red wine at one of several local wineries combining vineyard and lake views from tasting rooms. Take in the scenery from a Lady of the Lake river cruise during the days at Lake Chelan. Honeymoon alternatives to lakefront resorts include bed and breakfasts in town, condominium rentals near golf courses and private homes with fully furnished kitchens and docks for lake access. Lake Chelan is centrally located in Washington halfway between Seattle and Spokane, each being a four-hour drive to the east or west.
  
  

Pacific Coast Getaways

• Watch the waves crash, or fly a stunt kite from the beaches of the southwest Washington towns of Ocean Shores, Westport or Long Beach. Ocean Shores, located 130 miles southwest of Seattle, spans a six-mile peninsula bordered to the west by the Pacific and to the east by Grays Harbor. Honeymoon accommodation options range from suites in larger resorts to private homes located a few blocks south of the downtown area. Across Grays Harbor to the south, the town of Westport is popular with surfers and whale watchers and has romantic cottages with ocean views perfect for newlyweds. Long Beach is 80 miles south of Westport near the Oregon border and features a boardwalk leading to more than 20 miles of Pacific shoreline. Honeymooners may enjoy riding horseback on the beach or paddling together in a kayak through Willapa Bay. Long Beach accommodations include oceanfront inns and historic bungalows.
