    • The American Red Cross offers a 100-hour training class at the Grand Professional Building. The class has both day and evening schedules and consists of three to five weeks of classroom study followed by a week of clinical experience. Because the Red Cross has great name recognition, a certificate from its training program will help you get a position anywhere in the country.

    Waterbury Adult Continuing Education

    • The Waterbury Adult Continuing Education division offers a CNA training program taught by registered nurses, consisting of 75 hours of classroom training along with 60 hours of practical instruction. The classroom work takes place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the school year, with the clinical portion held on Saturday mornings. The division also offers a summer session during the day, Monday through Thursday.

    Naugatuck Valley Community College

    • Naugatuck Valley Community College offers a non-credit course leading to certification as a nurse's aide. Students who meet certain income guidelines may be eligible for free tuition, and the course includes the fee for the state certification exam, which is proctored on site. The classes are scheduled multiple times each week to provide students with flexibility.
