How to Treat Over-Processed Black Hair
- 1). Trim split ends off your damaged hair, or have your hairdresser give you a trim. Cutting off the split ends will stop the damage from potentially traveling up the hair shaft.
- 2). Apply a conditioner to your hair every time you shampoo. Leave it on for about three minutes then rinse it out well.
- 3). Comb your hair while it's still wet with a wide-toothed comb. This helps prevent breakage, as it's stronger wet than dry.
- 4). Coat the tips of your hair with a leave-in conditioner each time you shampoo. This will help to seal the split ends and restore shine. Put a quarter-sized dollop on your palms and gently rub onto the ends.
- 5). Apply a hot-oil treatment once a week to add moisture. Follow the directions found on the treatment box.
