This is a very common question among people of all ages.
Yes, this problem is not just restricted to older people, but in fact can occur at virtually any age.
While concern about wrinkles around the eyes are still one of the most common issues people have come to me with over the years, dark circles under the eyes is a close second.
The fact is that any anomalies around the eyes can make you look significantly older than you are.
The concern people have about this issue is legitimate and understandable.
So, what causes dark circles under the eyes? How do you treat them? These are just some of the questions I'll briefly attempt to answer in this article.
Causes The skin beneath the eyes is extremely thin.
In fact, it's the thinnest skin on your entire body.
In most other areas of your body you cannot see the blood vessels below the skin, but here you can.
This is one of the major reasons why this skin will often appear dark.
Now, there are other factors than can make this less than desirable situation worse, including: - Lack of sleep, which can lead to puffiness, which in turn accentuates the dark circles - Poor blood circulation can cause the veins to be more pronounced - Dark pigmentation under the eyes - Hereditary features like very transparent skin Now that you have a rough idea of what causes dark circles under the eyes, let's see what you can do about it.
Treatments Basically you can do three things: - try a home treatment, like cucumber slices or used tea bags on the eyes - use a properly formulated, non-irritating eye gel created specifically to treat the sensitive eye skin - get expensive professional procedures done like laser treatment or filler injections Personally, when it comes to the eyes, I wouldn't go near something like filler injections, which can do permanent damage and even cause blindness if poorly administered.
The safest, and in most cases most effective, way to to reduce dark circles under the eyes is still to use a high quality, non-irritating eye gel.
Choosing the correct formulation and ingredients can make all the difference to the results you experience though.
Safety is also paramount, so don't leave this decision up to chance.
