Type 2 Diabetes - Take Control

103 37
One of the problems of having type 2 diabetes is that we all respond in a different way to treatments.
No two diabetics are the same.
This goes all the way down the line.
Right from the foods we eat to the types of medications prescribed.
Although there are many different types of drugs to treat diabetes type 2, Metformin appears to be the first that doctors generally use.
This is definitely the case in the UK.
Metformin can cause horrible stomach upsets in some people, others use it for years without problems.
Its the same story with foods.
Diabetics are encouraged to eat three meals a day and cut out processed and overloaded sugar products.
However, one persons heaven is another ones hell.
That is why its so important to monitor blood glucose levels with regularity.
Just so you can see what will work for you.
When you think about it.
The diet that is recommended for diabetics, is in all honesty the same diet that everyone who wants to look after their health should be on.
Cut down on saturated fats.
Cut down on sugar products, and keep away from processed foods.
When you try something new to eat.
Take a reading of your glucose levels an hour or so afterwards.
Write it down and remember how it felt.
By constantly logging information down.
You build up an accurate idea of what works for you and what does not.
This gives you back a lot of control in your life and that can be such a positive move.
Remember type 2 diabetes behaves differently in each of us.
A doctor can only help so much.
It is up to you to take control, and by doing the above it will happen.
