    Old Testament

    • The story of Noah's ark in the Old Testament is exciting for kids. Part of the lesson is to tell the kids the full story of why God asked Noah to build the ark, which animals stayed on the ark, and how long the great flood lasted. A word search with the important terms in the story of Noah, such as animals, ark, flood and life, goes along with the story to complete this Christian Sunday School lesson for kids.

Create bookmarks using the story of Moses and the Ten Commandments. The children can draw a picture of Moses or a commandment tablet, and list the Ten Commandments beneath the picture.

    New Testament

    • The New Testament is full of stories about Jesus and the way he preached faith in God. The Gospel of Matthew 14:22-33 tells the story of Jesus walking on water to show his disciples of their faith. A Sunday school lesson to go along with this story is for the kids to act out the story--each child gets to play an important role, such as a disciple, Peter or Jesus. Re-enacting the story helps kids understand the meaning behind the story.

The story of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist, coupled with a matching craft, makes a good Sunday school lesson. After kids hear the story, they make a flying dove out of paper. The directions are easy to follow for preschool age and up.

    Christian Holidays

    • Santa Claus and gift-giving tend to take precedence during the Christmas season, but kids learn in Sunday school that Christmas is the story of the birth of Jesus. A particularly entertaining yet educational lesson is to read the story of Jesus aloud to the Sunday school class. After reading the story, the kids can color in coloring pages about Christmas.

Easter is another important Christian holiday, one that Christians spend 40 days preparing for. Children look forward to it for Easter egg hunts and candy. During their Easter Sunday school class, the kids learn about Jesus' role in the Easter holiday--his death for our sins and subsequent Resurrection. Once they have learned the story of Easter, a fitting way to end the lesson is with making a paper cross to hang up as a decoration at home.

    Miscellaneous

    • Miscellaneous lessons for Christian Sunday school lessons include various printable materials or coloring pages depicting significant stories in the Bible. As messengers from God, angels are important symbols for Christians. Entertaining lessons can include crafts making angels' nametags with the kids' names on them, coloring pages with pictures of a church to remind kids the importance of celebrating Jesus each Sunday, and learning songs about heaven.
