How to Put a TV Behind a Two-Way Mirror

    Making the hole

    • 1). Decide exactly where you want your TV to be placed. Ideally, it's going to be at eye level or above when you're sitting down. Another thing to consider is that the depth of the wall must be deep enough to hold the TV. As such, flat screens are ideal for this project, although you can do it with any kind of television depending on the size of your wall.

    • 2). Get your various saws, hammers and so on, place a sheet of plastic on the ground for quick cleanup and get to drilling. Again, make sure the depth is enough to hold the TV.

    • 3). Make sure to drill enough holes behind or on the side of the new hole to run your various cables through them. What you don't want is for the cables to look sloppy. Run them through the wall and into the cable box, DVD, VCR, etc. Also, it's very important that your extra holes don't allow any light in. It must be completely dark where the television is for the two-way mirror to work.

    • 4). Place the television inside the hole, making sure that it is at the right height. You can either hang it from the back of the hole or simply use a television stand to stand it up. After it's in, make sure to sit down in the room and check the television from every angle. This is your last chance to make adjustments.

    Installing the two-way mirror

    • 1). Purchase a two-way mirror that is slightly bigger than the hole you made in the wall. You can frame the mirror if you want it to look classy, but using just the bare mirror itself will get the job done.

    • 2). Hang the frame over the hole, making sure it covers the entire thing. If you are using a frame, make sure that every border of the television screen can be seen.

    • 3). Turn on the television. The brightness of the screen will shine through the mirror and allow you to see the television. To make it invisible again and turn it into a normal mirror, turn off the television.
