It looks like 4K Ultra HD is definitely here to stay as IHS Technology is reporting that slightly over one million 4K Ultra HD TVs were shipped worldwide in March 2014.
What makes this significant is that these latest numbers represent three times the 4K Ultra HD TVs that were shipped in the previous month, and almost ten times that of March 2013. When broken down by display panel manufacturer, Innolux of Taiwan led the pack, followed by Korea-based Samsung, and LG Display companies.


In terms of consumer demand by country, China's consumers are taking the lead (they are also responsible for most 3D TV demand).
