ANH - Fighting For Your Rights

This is an organization you will want to familiarize yourself with if you value your freedom.
Alliance For Natural Health (ANH) was founded in 2002 by Dr.
Robert Verkerk (Scientist with over 25 yrs experience in Agriculture, Environmental sustainability); they promote natural health as the cornerstone and true approach to human health.
They have tirelessly worked to ensure our access to wholesome, nutritious foods and safe natural supplements whose usage is time honored.
Traditional cures, be they Ayurvedic or Traditional Chinese Medicine have been here for thousands of years.
These practices advocate herbs, medicinal plants and countless other ways of supporting one's health.
The ANH is here to make sure your rights to access these and other modalities are not usurped.
In 2004 they lobbied and won a referral of their case (protecting us from bans on food supplements) to the EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg.
Against what or who you might ask? This brings us to the infamous Codex Alimentarius.
Created in 1963 by a joint program of FAO/WHO, Codex Alimentarius is in and of itself a noble endeavor: harmonize food standards to ensure the safety of foods world-wide, protect consumer health by establishing universal standards for food.
Good ideas if in fact their mandate stayed true to that cause.
Codex is actually a directive more than actual Law.
Governments worldwide send delegates (not voted in) who then are responsible for turning the directive(s) into a national law(s) for their country.
Sanctions are imposed on countries that do not comply with whatever directives are put into place.
One lovely example is how the EU is required to pay millions of dollars in sanctions to the US and Canada because they refuse to import beef that has been treated with estrogenic hormones.
Talk about idiocy.
What makes this entire operation disingenuous is the fact that Codex places an inordinate amount of value on what global food corporations feed them.
International Non-Governmental agencies are allowed to attend Codex meetings; they do not have voting power but certainly have the mite to influence decisions.
From a positive perspective, consumer groups are featured amongst the INGOs; but it does leave the door open for the larger multinational food czars to hold court.
Not a good thing, as their interests are motivated by share holders and boards of directors.
So, thankfully, the ANH has our backs on this one.
So while we're all hitting the snooze button, our rights are being chiseled away by corporate backed, organizations that claim to be serving the best interests of the people.
Not saying that the Codex guys are corrupt; well implemented, they could provide a great service to consumers.
Universal standards in food safety need to be met and kept for the health and well being of Humankind.
Their directives need to be always serving the good of the people they claim to want to protect; NOT the corporations who serve their own interests first.
In the mean time ANH is fighting for all of us to make sure that our right to make choices that impact our personal health and freedom remain intact.
