Quick Acne Remedies
- One of the quickest and most convenient acne remedies is plain white toothpaste. Gel toothpaste does not have the same effect, so do not use it to get rid of acne. Apply a small amount of toothpaste to individual blemishes and leave on overnight. Gently wash your face in the morning and your acne should be much less noticeable.
- Milk of magnesia, although usually used to treat an upset stomach, is also good for reducing acne. Apply a dab of milk of magnesia to your problem skin with a cotton ball two to three times per day. Allow it to dry for a few minutes and then rinse your face with cool water.
- Aspirin contains salycilic acid, a common ingredient in store-bought acne treatments. Make a paste out of two aspirin by crushing them and adding a small amount of water. Dab some of the paste on your pimples and leave on overnight. In the morning, gently wash your face and pat dry with a clean towel.
- A wet tea bag applied to the acne-prone area for a few minutes should greatly reduce redness and inflammation, making acne spots smaller and less noticeable. Ice will also have the same effect.
- Essential oils such as sandalwood, lavender, rose hip seed oil and primrose oil can help reduce and heal acne quickly. You can purchase these oils in many health food stores. If you have very sensitive skin, you may need to dilute the oil with grapeseed oil, a more neutral essential oil.
- Make a paste out of cold milk and nutmeg to reduce the appearance of acne. Apply this to your face and leave on for about 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
