Hours on the Treadmill Are a Waste of Time

I confess! I'm one of those guys that have spent hours upon hours on the treadmill and have sweat enough to where I should have lost a lot of weight but each time I get on my scale I am severely disappointed.
I was recently introduced to the interval training concept and I was blown away by the results.
My weight has finally dropped below that plateau that has plagued me for months.
I have replaced my hourly sessions pounding away on the treadmill with interval training and have found that where I was spending hours I am now only spending about 20 minutes and the results are amazing.
If you are not familiar with interval training it is a cardio training exercise where you start very slow and increase your speed periodically.
You increase your speed until you hit your heart target rate and then immediately slow to a very low speed.
When your heart rate begins to slow a bit you simply pick the speed back to your target heart rate.
Do this throughout your workout until you are fnished with your workout period.
A good workout period is about 20 minutes.
An essential component of the workout is to have a good heart monitor because depending you need to monitor your heart rate to keep it within a safe zone.
You do not want to exceed 90% of your maximum rate.
Interval training is done in conjunction with the other exercises that are in your program for strength and agility.
I've adapted my training program and have been able to complete a full work out in less than 45 minutes.
No more spending hours upon hours on the treadmill for me.
