Stop Anxiety Attacks by Learning How to Relax

Ever notice how some people are rarely stressed, anxious or upset? Even in situations which send us over the edge? Stress is largely a manifestation of what we put into our minds and process and how we process it.
We all encounter the same scenarios, it's how we choose to react to them that makes us different.
The following are some tips on how to relax and make yourself less stressed overall.
Effectively using relaxation techniques like this will help you to stop anxiety attacks.
First, as silly as it may seem, think positively.
Now, that doesn't mean to be Pollyanna about everything, but certainly being the antithesis of this - being negative about everything isn't good either.
If you're constantly negative, not only will those thoughts affect your emotional balance, but people will react to that, and will either avoid you or come to you only when they want to complain about something as well.
Understand that there is always a solution to a problem or more aptly, things aren't always as bad as we first might think.
Next, avoid people who continually complain or are angry.
Anger can be contagious, and that anger turns into stress and other negativity, so avoid transmitters.
Allow yourself to be infected by someone else's happiness.
Be around people who make you laugh.
Safeguard your mental fortress by guarding it with people who won't tear it down.
Similarly, avoid toxic people.
These are those who make you feel guilty about things or tell you that you're not good enough.
These are also people who try to manipulate you.
Even if the person is family, try to find ways to spend less time with them.
Or, if that can't be done, recognize them for who they are and don't fall into the trap of allowing what they say to affect you.
While you're avoiding the negative people in your life, stop feeling guilty all the time.
Guilt is a huge source of stress in our lives.
Find out the root cause of your guilt.
Stop doing things that make you feel guilty.
Behave yourself, don't allow destructive behavior to sabotage your mental health.
If it was something in the past, let it go.
If it's so embedded in your consciousness, seek professional help to rid (or lesson) it of you.
Letting go of guilt can be a major milestone on a permanent way to stop anxiety attacks.
Be proactive.
Disorganization can create a ton of additional stress because you miss important engagements or spend time searching for things.
Make a list of tasks and organize it.
Reduce clutter.
Take on small tasks (like paying bills, finding a pet sitter, etc) immediately so they don't turn into larger issues (having to pay for late fines on a bill, having to scramble at the last minute before leaving on vacation to find that sitter).
Put good stuff in your body.
Not only will the long-term affects (being overweight, diseases like diabetes, coronary, and lung) cause anxiety, but they have short-term, almost immediate affects as well.
  • Avoid excessive sugar and carbohydrates (which easily convert to sugar) found in granola bars, pastries, soda and pasta.
Up and down sugar levels causes agitation and upsetting your body's ability to efficiently utilize energy (making you feeling fatigued most of the time).
Fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains are usually free of refined sugar.
  • Try warm water or decaffeinated versions of coffee, tea and soda.
Caffeine is a stimulant and stimulating your nervous system does not help you to relax.
  • Eat plenty of low-fat protein, such as chicken, turkey, fish and low-fat varieties of dairy products.
  • Take a multi-vitamin.
Look into the stress-relieving properties of some vitamins.
These are just six ways you can easily and immediately reduce your stress levels and begin relaxing - a fundamental need in stopping panic and anxiety attacks.
