Winter is probably the least likely time anyone would want to start the journey of weight loss. Most people want to lose weight for summer and gain motivation to lose it as they bring in the New Year. However, if we forget what time of year it is and truly decide to lose weight, this is a much bigger motivator than any New Year celebration or beach body dreams for summer. Weight loss happens to those who don't choose to do it as a resolution or set themselves a challenge. You have to make a commitment and decide you want to lose weight now and not wait until a certain time of year or day before you make that commitment. That is how one is successful at losing the belly fat.

So why not start your weight loss journey today? Sure it might be cold outside but there are many things you can do with relative ease that won't send you out in the freezing cold or be much of a challenge.

First of all let us look at your diet. The best way to get an accurate description of your diet is to take a few days to write down everything you eat and drink. This will help you see where you can easily cut some things out. One of the most common things that adds huge amounts of calories to one's diet is soda and juices. Both can be easily cut from the diet. You could try only drinking water and herbal teas at first. If you love juice, try making your own at home - orange juice can be easily squeezed at home giving you a little work out and a nutritious drink. There are plenty of other thins your diet can reveal to you too once you observe.

As well as cutting out the soda and empty calorie drinks, the easiest thing you can do to up your nutrition and cut down on the calories is to start eating fruit before every meal. Fruit is nutritious and low calorie. It will also help you feel satiated after your main meals so you don't end up overeating. By incorporating fruit into your diet this way, you don't have to sacrifice or cut out the food you are eating just yet and this will help you start eating more fresh foods and thus be healthier. You could also try incorporating a fresh salad into your daily routine too. Taking baby steps is important to ensure that you stick to this path and make it a lifestyle change as opposed to a yo-yo hell.

It is also a good idea to start changing the meals you eat too but this can come once you have incorporated some smaller changes in successfully and everyday. There is no need to rush and if you start now you can really go a lot slower in preparation for summer (if that is what you are looking to do). Winter is a great time to eat soup. Soup can be low in fat but still provide you with the comfort you need on a cold day. Making fresh vegetable soups at home will also help keep them nutritious and hearty.
