Global Warming: The Steps Being Taken
The biggest danger which mankind can imagine is knocking right on our doorsteps now.
Global Warming is causing great anxiety to mankind mainly due to the fact that reason that the blanket of greenhouse gases comprising predominantly of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) is getting thicker with each passing day.
The assimilation of the greenhouse gases that too at such an alarming rate is the reason threatening all forms of life on this planet.
Due to rise in the global warming the earth's temperature is rising substantially causing habitats and natural behaviour to change around us.
The advent of Industrial Revolution might have been very useful to for the mankind but the price which we all had to pay for this rapid industrialization and growth was with the beauty of our natural resources.
The trend started by the Britain to setup factories by burning coal and other valuable natural resources soon engulfed the entire world.
It was only in the year 1896 that a Swedish scientist by the name of Svante Arrhenius first observed that the increasing quantity of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere by the coal fired industries is all set to cause global warming, that too in a very near future.
According to statistics doubling the carbon dioxide content, results in 2 degree centigrade rise in the earth's temperature.
When the ill effects of this problem became quite visible a Panel was setup in the year 1988 by the UN General Assembly named as the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) whose main intention and motive was to make the world leaders aware of global warming's impact on our environment.
IPCC held meetings and discussions with the representatives of different governments all over the world.
The panel has even reported, "The balance of evidence suggests that there is a discernible human influence on global climate.
" This speaks everything in itself.
The USA and China are the biggest countries responsible for the adding up of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere.
United States of America is still dependent on fossils fuels for deriving most of its energy sources (around 85%).
It has been estimated that China can even match up with the current world emission level in a matter of 20 years.
Speaking of China and India never falls behind; it is a country in the Top 5 responsible for the emission of greenhouse gases.
The Indian government has already taken various steps to ensure that carbon dioxide emissions are kept in control and it is kept as minimal as possible.
However the main hurdle lies in the mindset of the people of this planet.
They still haven't realised the importance of keeping global warming in control.
Efforts have only been putting bits and pieces and we all need to work collectively in order to fight against this thing.
The 21st century has witnessed quite some extraordinary inventions of mankind, and one of them is the process of Iron Seeding which is a significantly cheap strategy to reduce carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.
