  Topsail, North Carolina, has some of the state's cleanest shoreline and a quiet community free of overpopulated tourist traps. • The Jolly Roger Inn sits right on the ocean, and the majority of its 65 rooms offer an ocean view. The motel has standard rooms, efficiencies and two-bedroom apartments. Guests receive discounts for the inn's 850-foot fishing pier, and the motel provides rental fishing equipment. The on-site restaurant opens at 6 a.m. daily, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and allows for indoor or outdoor seating.
  
  The motel is within a five-minute drive of the Topsail Skating Rink, bicycle rentals at Herring's Outdoor Sports, the Spa at Topsail and the miniature golf course at Patio Playground. A number of golf courses are within a 30-minute drive, including North Shore Country Club and Topsail Greens Golf Club.

Sea Vista Motel

• The Sea Vista Motel features individually decorated standard rooms, efficiencies, a honeymoon suite and apartments. All rooms include cable television, free wireless Internet, microwaves and refrigerators, and the suite also includes an equipped kitchenette and private balcony. The apartments include two bedrooms, a living room, balcony and full kitchen. The motel allows a maximum of two pets for a $40 fee for the length of the stay.
  
  The motel lies just steps from the Atlantic Ocean and provides an outdoor shower so that guests can rinse off the sand and salt water. The motel is a few minutes' drive from the Missiles and More Museum, the Blue Gecko restaurant and numerous fishing piers.

Breezeway Motel

• The Breezeway Motel is 1 1/2 blocks from the ocean and has standard guestrooms, efficiencies and a rental cottage. All rooms include free wireless Internet, and efficiencies have a microwave and refrigerator. The three-bedroom rental cottage can sleep as many as eight guests and has a screened-in front porch, covered back porch, outside shower and covered porch.
  
  Guests can use the motel's pool and patio area, boat dock and fishing pier, and charter fishing trips are available through the motel. Friendly, mature dogs are allowed for a $35 fee for the length of the stay. The on-site restaurant serves dinner only.
