    Attractions at Natchez Trace State Park

    • Natchez Trace State Park is located 35 miles east of Jackson, Tennessee, between Memphis and Nashville, off of Interstate 40. The park includes four lakes, cabins, playgrounds, a ball field, a swimming beach and a resort inn. The park is named for the "Nashville to Natchez" highway, which was an important wilderness road during the 18th century, according to Tennessee.Gov. The park was built as part of President Roosevelt's "New Deal" program. Land was purchased from farmers who could no longer make a living because of erosion problems. The park includes hiking trails, 250 miles of horseback riding trails, and a wrangler camp. Meeting rooms and a conference center are also available.

    Parker's Crossroads National Battlefield Park

    • This Civil War battlefield is located eight miles from Natchez Trace State Park. Located in Parker's Crossroads, Tennessee, the park consists of more than 40 interpretive signs to assist visitors concerning the battle that took place on December 31, 1862. On the self-guided driving tour and over two miles of walking trails, visitors discover how the Confederate forces commanded by Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest faced two Union brigades, which were commanded by General Jeremiah C. Sullivan, on the site of the battlefield. Lodging, camping and dining facilities make this park a prime location for visitors who are traveling along Interstate 40, between Nashville and Memphis.

    Falcon Ridge Golf Club

    • Falcon Ridge Golf Club is in Cedar Grove, Tennessee. Only 21 miles from Natchez Trace State Park, Falcon Ridge is a championship semi-private 700-acre golf club that is halfway between Nashville and Memphis. The 18-hole course has views of trees and water, and features a unique design, blending the golf course with nature. Falcon's par-72 course plays 6,965 yards from the back tees and 5,065 yards from the forward. The Falcon Ridge course tests course-management skills, and offers a pro shop, course tours, packages, tournaments and events.

    Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park

    • The Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park, a little over 35 miles northeast from Natchez Trace State Park, was named for General Nathan Bedford Forrest, the Confederate cavalry leader who was victorious on November 4, 1864, at Johnsonville, at the mouth of Trace Creek. He concentrated his efforts along the river and what is now the town of Eva. Forrest was one of the greatest military tacticians and leaders of the American Civil War, according to TN Online. The park features cabins and campgrounds. Boating and fishing is also available on the 200,000-acre Kentucky Lake.
