How Stress Affects Your Mind and Body
Some stress we cannot control, such as the air that we breathe and the earth that we live on, however there are some areas of Stress that we do have control over, and these include the foods that we eat and our lifestyles.
I invite you to understand where your Stress comes from, to understand it and from there to hopefully reduce it.
Car fumes, smoking, alcohol, drugs, smog, working too much, death, marriage, divorce, not resting enough, relationships that do not work, relationships that do work, the environment, sleeping in an uncomfortable bed, travel (long haul especially), computers, cars, arguments, moving, birth, its endless isn't it, and they all have a stress element connected to them which will cause you some kind of stress.
On top of that there is food; the big stresses here are sugar, caffeine, alcohol, dairy, wheat, preservatives and salt to name a few.
So What Damage Does Stress Cause upon us? In short, stress causes dehydration and dehydration causes stress, and without blinding you with science dehydration will prevent your body from being able to cleanse properly creating symptoms of 'dis-ease' within the bodies natural rhythms and cycles.
This dis-ease, in-balance or symptom is telling us that something is not right and if read correctly can allow us to make important changes that can direct us towards a more balanced life and body again.
However, if these signs are misread we could cause even more stress and in addition add to the dehydration picture and the whole process starts all over again! So How Can You Reduce Stress? Firstly we need to identify it and from there we can aim to reduce it.
Taking an honest look at your diet to see how many of the higher stress foods are included is a first.
High stress foods include caffeine high teas, coffee, chocolate, meat, sugar, alcohol, wheat, croissants, biscuits, fizzy drinks, crisps, salted peanuts, salt, sweets, deep fried foods, takeaways, preservatives and cakes to name a few.
The other areas to look into are from what is around you.
Do you watch too much television and stare at the PC all day? Is there a radio alarm, stereo, electrical equipment, computer, laptop, mobile phones, blackberry, cordless telephones and like items surrounding your living and sleeping space? Have you got endless junk and or clutter stuffed under your bed and in your house? Is your office and bedroom cluttered and messy and do you feel heavy all the time? You see all electrical equipment has a vibration, and that vibration will in some way have an affect you (as is my laptop as I write this).
I'm not saying stop work, but I am saying cut down where you can and compensate by having a healthier lifestyle and diet to go with it - it is all about balance.
It is bad enough being around these objects all day long, let alone sleeping with them too! For a start I would definitely recommend that you clear as much as you can out of your bedroom! Clutter causes Stress, and if you are cluttered on the outside it most likely indicates that you are cluttered on the inside too? Clearing space and spring cleaning is a great way to promote healing, freedom and movement both emotionally and physically.
Always better for a discharge - that is why you feel great after a DETOX - chuck all the old stuff out! 'If in doubt chuck it out!'
