Hi, my name is Beth Ann Warren. I'm a licensed aesthetician and a makeup artist in Los Angeles, California, and today I'm going to show you how to use a lash curler. A lash curler is what we use to give our lashes more volume and more curl. A lot of times, our lashes are sticking straight out. We want them to curl more up, it gives a much more open appearance to the eye and just an overall more beautiful look to the eye. Now, I'm going to show you how to use this lash curler by demonstrating on Stephanie here. First step: you're going to pick up your lash curler and you want it to face this way, with the curvature going inwards, which is going to be facing the eye. So, you want the outward curve facing you. You want to place your thumb inside the loop closest to you and your middle finger in the loop facing the client or facing yourself, if you're doing it on yourself. And then you want to use your pointer finger for balance, or support. Then the next step is you're going to take the lash curler and you want to try and get as many lashes as possible inside this area here. So, you're going to take the lash curler, you're going to place the top metal part on their eyelid, and then you're going to proceed to try and get as many lashes inside as you can, you're going to squeeze one time at the bottom, you're going to move up the lashes a little bit and squeeze again, then you're going to move up the lashes once more and squeeze again. Now, the reason that I like to move up a few times and keep squeezing is because it creates a much better curl, curve in the lashes. Instead of just squeezing one time which actually creates more of a bend, and we don't want that. A lot of times too, people like to wear fake lashes, you can also use the lash curler not only when you're doing your own lashes, but as well as when you're putting on false lashes. Basically, what you would do in that case is you would curl your own lashes before you apply the false eyelashes, then once the false eyelashes are applied and pretty dry, you want to then put the false eyelashes as well as your own lashes inside the lash curler and curl them both at the same time. That'll give the appearance that the false lashes are more part of your own natural eyelashes. Again, I'm Beth Ann Warren, a licensed aesthetician and professional makeup artist in Los Angeles, California and thank you very much for watching my video on how to use a lash curler.
