Embroidery Designs For All
This week, Ive seen so many new, wonderful sets of machine embroidery designs that my mind is reeling! Lace and redwork, appliqu and quilting. So many projects, so little time! But isnt that a wonderful thing anyway?
My home is decorated in male dominant styles, but with my insistence on color. Currently, that color is all shades of red from lightest pink to darkest burgundy, mixed in with hints of black and touches of precious metals and glass accessories. With these new embroidery designs, though, I see that my living room is crying out for more!
I found a beautiful free embroidery design that one generous digitizer provided that will be perfect for adding to the bottom of my curtains. Because one whole wall, from living to dining, is glass, adding the design will create an instant update to the space. Im thinking of doing it in shades of purple, possibly with a variegated machine embroidery thread.
Another designer has embroidery patterns to create fantastic cutwork doilies. I see these stitched and connected to create a beautiful, yet sturdy cover for my dark coffee table to add lightness for the warmer weather. All that dark wood just doesnt say Spring to me! While Im at it, I can make a couple of pillow covers for the couch and some placemats for the dining table.
One wall in my living room is covered in cheap botanical prints that I got at the dollar store. I painted all the frames black for continuity, and it is a bold statement for the room. However they, too, are more at home in the colder months. Luckily for me, I found some discount embroidery designs in the tone-on-tone style. I will stitch these in black and grey threads to coordinate with the frames, and the fabric will be lighter shades of red to compliment the room and add the lighter accent needed for Spring and Summer.
One of my favorite embroidery designers just released some new free-standing lace panels that I would love to see on my bedroom windows. But, considering that my bedroom windows cover 2 whole walls, I dont think I have enough stitching time to complete them. However, my small kitchen window would look fabulous with fresh, lacy curtains done in a very light yellow or peach. And maybe one in aqua blue for the powder room would be nice!
Like I said, there are so many wonderful embroidery designs available right now! Im blessed to be able to have two embroidery machines, so I know I can get most of my plans completed quite easily. The trick, for me, is to try not to plan too much at one time. If I plan too much, I get overwhelmed and end up not completing anything! But, this season, I know I am prepared! I restocked my machine embroidery thread during a big sale recently and Ive ordered all my embroidery supplies that I like to keep on hand. My fabrics are purchased and laundered, just waiting for me to cut into them. Ive still got my test stitching to do, but that is always enjoyable to see the designs stitch out the first time. I like to put these up on my wall as a sort of embroidery design gallery. It keeps the creative juices flowing!
If theres time, I may even stitch some beautiful redwork designs on my old denim jacket. Its perfect for the warmer weather, but looks so old now! I love machine embroidery because I can give my old, loved items a fresh new look! How about you?
