Styrofoam Dog Craft
Dottie created this dog craft in honor of National Dog Day. This craft is a great way to recycle styrofoam trays.
- Age Guideline: 5 Years and Up
- Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)
The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Clean Styrofoam Tray
- Egg Carton Cup
- Egg Carton 'Nubs' (used for holding carton closed)
- Permanent Markers
- Cellophane Tape
- Scissors
Instructions:
Cut off about one quarter of the styrofoam meat tray and cut out two ear shapes using the rounded sides as the top part of the ear shaped. Also cut out a tongue shape making a tab out of the rounded end to insert into a slit in the bottom of the meat tray. The rest of the meat tray becomes the dog’s head.
Tape the ears to the edge of the meat tray. Cut a single cup from a styrofoam egg carton to use for the dog’s nose and tape it to the face. Cut a slit at the bottom of the meat tray and insert the tongue. Tape the little nubs that close the egg carton onto the styrofoam tray for the eyes.
Draw on the facial features with permanent markers.
