How to Troubleshoot a Craftsman Mini-Tiller
- 1). Press the primer bulb fully and slowly 10 times if the engine will not start. The engine must be fully primed to start.
- 2). Replace the spark plug if it is worn out. The engine cannot start without a fully working spark plug.
- 3). Pull the starter rope as many as 10 to 15 times if the outside temperature is above 90 or below 40. Extreme temperatures can make the tiller more difficult to start.
- 4). Clean the air filter if the engine will not idle. A plugged air filter prevents the engine from running properly due to restricted air flow.
- 5). Empty the fuel tank and add fresh fuel mixture if the engine will not accelerate. Add 3.2 fluid ounces of two-cycle oil for every gallon of unleaded gas.
