Hi, I am Paul Holowko. Today, we're going to do hydroponic strawberries in a trough garden. For instance on a balcony in your kitchen or really anywhere around your house that might be sunny. So the way you start out with generally it's easy to get a six pack of strawberries. And in this case remember, strawberries are perennials not annuals and these are actually useable from year to year. So they'll actually grow in your hydroponic system year round. That's the best part. So the way you start out with is you take and remove when it's in a six pack like this, remove one of the strawberries and you have to remove all the soil to be able to put it in your hydroponic system. The way we do that is we put it into a bucket of water. And in to the bucket it goes. So we take out all the soil. It's OK to dunk the whole plant, it'll live. It gets wet in other ways too. So get all of this off. This actually has a pretty good root system here. Try to get all this off here. It has a really good root. And so since it is a perennial, you're going to have a lot of overflow on the bucket on your hydroponics bucket. So what I have over here is a hydroponic bucket. It's actually a kit that you can get at any hydroponic store or you can make it yourself. It has a reservoir on the bottom and it has hydrotone in it where it holds a lot of water and wicks a lot of the water to the plant itself. OK so this looks pretty good right here. If I stick it in here, this thing once it's stuck in, these roots will grow all kinds of directions and these plants will grow all over the edges. You will get strawberries in no time with this. Now you can place several plants in here. I have six plants in a six pack, you can put them all over the place, the whole thing will grow. The next step is really the chemicals to be able to feed your plant. For instance, if you get a kit, a lot of times the chemicals will come in. You've got small little bottles like this or you can get a big bottle like this at any type of hydroponics store. This is a type of petroleum or chemical based way. You can go a natural way. You can to bioponics or aquaponics using fish instead. Here you only need a cap full once a week. One of these bottles. And just follow the directions in the kit and you have strawberries like you wouldn't know what to do with. I'm Paul Holowko.
