    • 1). Squeeze the rubber tips on the ends of the Canteen arms. The rubber should be soft and almost sticky to help keep the sunglasses molded to your head even when you sweat. If the plastic feels hard or glossy, it's a sure sign that you're dealing with a fake.

    • 2). Examine the lens. Fake Oakleys will have the logo painted on to the lens, whereas Oakley Canteens will have the Oakley logo etched into the lens instead, typically on the left lens. Any markings on the glasses whatsoever will be engraved or molded, never painted.

    • 3). Feel the arms of the Canteens. Unlike some other models, Canteens only feature a letter "O" on the sides, not the full Oakley name. It will be a raised accessory on the glasses, in a contrasting color to the body of the glasses. For instance, white Canteens have a Gray "O" and green Canteens will have a deep charcoal "O" on the right hand side.

    • 4). Check the packaging that your Oakleys were sold with. Real Oaakleys never have price stickers or peel-away UV notification stickers. Oakleys are not sold with mesh bags, but come in an Oakley cardboard box.

    • 5). Consider the price point before you purchase Oakley Canteens. On the Oakley website, they are on sale for $95.00, as of 2010. If the Oakley Canteens that you've found are less that $50 to $60, there's a good chance that you aren't looking at the real thing.
