Bargains for Baby

It is great when we find a bargain at any time but during economically challenging times such as the GFC (global financial crisis) it is made all the more sweet. Not only do we save some money but for some reason it also makes us feel good about ourselves. The joy of finding a bargain is also great when we are under extra financial strain as we prepare for special events, such as the arrival of a new baby.

When you scan the baby books to prepare yourself for your new arrival there seems to be so much you need to buy. You sit and think to yourself could a baby possibly need all these things? To make the lives of Mum and Dad easier, the answer is "yes". Although some items such as a Moses Basket or Basinet are required for such a short period of time, it does not make great financial sense to spend an excessive amount of money on something which will be used for perhaps only a couple of months.

Although, it is great to borrow baby items from friends, it is also nice to buy your own stuff and there are plenty of bargains to be had by visiting baby markets, second hand stores or browsing the internet. The majority of second hand baby items are usually in good condition since in most cases they have rarely been used for any length of time. Believe me your baby will not be the slightest bit put out if they aren't sleeping in the latest cot or being walked in the trendiest pram!

The items you buy may only be used for a short while on Baby Number 1, but they may get future use as subsequent siblings come onto the scene. It is worth therefore investing wisely on baby number 1 on some of the more frequently used items, such as a pram, cot, bouncer chair, play mat, high chair etc but these items do not have to be bought brand new. It is amazing what some people will throw out or render obsolete so if you are in the right place at the right time, you will pick up a bargain.

If something is too good to be true, it is human nature for us to be sceptical. We often think to ourselves "there must be a catch". In the majority of cases there isn't and if you get a sense something is wrong then just walk away.
