American Idol Finalists from NE Ohio
There's never been an "American Idol" audition in northeast Ohio, but Cleveland area singers have held their own in America's favorite talent show. Learn more about Cleveland area residents who have excelled on "America Idol."
Oberlin's Charles Grigsby was 24 years old when he was selected as one of the top 12 finalists in season 2 of "American Idol." He was voted off on March 19, 2003, making him #11 that year. Grigsby continued singing, releasing a self-titled album in 2005. He currently works for Verizon Wireless.

Scott Savol, born in Cleveland and raised in Shaker Heights, finished 5th on season four of "American Idol." He was 28 at the time. Since "Idol," Savol has worked on a variety of regional musical theater productions, including playing the Cowardly Lion in the "Wizard of Oz." Savol signed a record contract with Mahoning Valley Records in 2010 and is working on an album to be released in 2011.

Season nine of "American Idol" saw the best finish for an Ohio contestant. Crystal Bowersox, from the small Toledo area town of Elliston, was the runner-up. She was 25. Her strong finish earned her a record contract with Jive Records and in 2010, she released "Farmer's Daughter." She was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2010.
