How to Use a Cold Chisel
- 1). Place the protective goggles on your face, over your eyes. Hold the cold chisel with the lower bevel of the chisel parallel to the concrete or other surface.
- 2). Hold onto the chisel firmly in your hand, but don't clench it so tight that the shock from the impact with the hammer will damage your hand. Strike the head of the chisel with the ball peen hammer, until you get a rhythm going.
- 3). Lift the hammer up above your head and bring the face of the hammer down onto the head of the chisel with force, moving slowly and then building up speed to establish a rhythm. Strike harder for harder materials.
