Despite having an army of lawyers and vast financial resources the financial company Goldman Sachs now finds itself under an unprecedented amount of scrutiny. The company is suspected of various improprieties against its own customers including bad mortgages and other bad loans. The United States economy relies almost exclusively on consumer confidence, if a financial pillar of the banking community is not to be trusted it will be wondered who else is at fault. Without being able to trust the banking community many American citizens will lose the desire to take out loans or do other banking activities.

Due to a rapid increase in the price of oil the USD has suffered as of late on the online forex exchange. There has been a severe decline in demand for fuel and other goods due to a rapid increase in prices. The United States Congress has had enough with corruption in the financial sector in light of serious tumult within the US economy, this sense of frustration has become all too apparent. The financial institutions that would rally against the US people for the sake of a higher return have been put on notice.

While this recent investigation has resulted in some horrible things being brought to light there is still whole lot more that needs to be done in American finance. The country's politicians need to realize that their constituents represent more than votes, they represent the economy. An economy that is made up of people with no confidence does not bode well for economic recovery. With the cost of oil to be considered as well now that it is steadily rising the US government needs to consider carefully how it plans to aid in any recovery. Allowing criminals to continue to commit crimes is not the answer, however if confidence is removed it must be replaced…somehow.
