Is It Easy to Become a Christian?
Yes, it is easy to become a Christian and Roman 10:9-10 tells us how to do it.
It reads that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
If anyone would do that, he will become saved so it is not a hard thing to become a Christian.
Staying saved is not as easy, at least not at first.
We have to grow in the Lord by that I mean we would need to spend time in prayer, studying His word and applying what it said.
We cannot say that we are saved and continue to live in a worldly way; there must be a change in our life.
Jesus said in Luke 9:62 no one having put his hand to the plow and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.
He is saying that if we say we have accepted Him but our heart and mind are still on the kingdom of this world, we are not fit for the kingdom of God and our name can be blotted out in the book of remembrance.
When you first become saved, your heart has changed but you will still need to have your mind, will and emotions transformed into the knowledge of God.
This is done through prayer, studying His word and having faith in His word.
When we first get saved, we are babies in Christ and we all know that babies have to grow and be taught, this is what we do as a new born-again Christian and it will take time but the Holy Spirit will help us.
Staying a Christian does require work at first but as we grow in the Lord it will become easier and easier.
We will soon get to the point where we would not want to be any other way.
Physical work cannot earn us salvation.
This is not the kind of work that I am talking about, the work I am referring to is communication with the Lord, studying His word, having faith in His word and obeying it.
This is the way that we grow in Him and remain a Christian.
when I became saved I went on the mourners bench and confessed my sins to God and asked that He would save me, back then this was the way that I was taught and it was all that I knew.
God honored that and saved me but we do not have to do it that way according to His word.
All we need to do is believe in our heart that Jesus is God's Son and that he died for our sins and rose from the grave then ask for forgiveness of our sins.
If we will do that, we will be saved.
