Making beeswax candles is a great hobby to pick up.
Whether you have decided to get the whole family involved or your just doing your "own thing.
" Making beeswax candles is effortless, quick to do and will provide endless hours of enjoyment.
When you have the finished project, not only do you have the satisfaction that you have created your very own beeswax candle, but the pleasant fragrance in itself is delightful!  Four items are all you need to get you started making beeswax candles.

  1. Standard beeswax sheets (8 inches x 16 inches)
  2. A wick that is primed and cut to accommodate a one inch candle
  3. A matt knife like a small paring knife
  4. A clean cutting surface
On your clean surface, spread out the beeswax you will be using to create your candle.
Slice the wick off so it will be 3/4 inches longer on both sides of the sheet of wax.
For instance if you used an 8 inch beeswax sheet, you will need to cut the length of the wick to 9 1/2 inches.
Note: Leave 3/4 inches of wick on both sides of the candle.
Place the wick on the edge of the beeswax.
Spool approximately 1/8 inch of wax, going from left to right, down the length of the candle.
Bear down firmly to secure the wax around the wick.
Other than this particular time, never press down hard on your beeswax! You might prefer to turn over your wax, using the counter corner or even a cutting board.
Bend the wax 1/8 of an inch to create a seam.
Be sure the finished project has an evenly distributed seam for the wick.
At this point you might decide you prefer a thicker candle.
If so, pick up another sheet of beeswax and carefully place it against the edge of the original wax sheet.
With your thumb meld the two edges together while being cautious to keep it straight.
Continue rolling until the last part of the beeswax is wrapped around itself.
Using your thumb again, gingerly press the last edge of the wax securing it to the candle.
Rub gently to give the appearance of a smooth, seamless line.
Once you have chosen the top of your candle, snip the wick to 1/2 inch above the surface.
Then proceed to entirely cut the bottom piece of wick.
You have now had your first taste of making beeswax candle! Place it in your favorite candle holder and light the wick.
Take a deep breath and smell the sweet aroma of the beeswax and the sweet smell of success!
