    Vegetables

    • Eat plenty of vegetables like asparagus, green beans, onions, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, broccoli and spinach. Vegetables are high in fiber, water content and vitamins and minerals. These foods will not produce an acidic effect in your body. A delicious way to get more vegetables in your diet is to eat them sauteed in olive oil, chopped on top of your salad or roasted in the oven.

    Fruits

    • Many fruits help produce an alkaline effect in the body. Consume avocados, tomatoes, watermelons, lemon, limes and grapefruits. Try eating a grapefruit as a snack between meals. Cold watermelon is a delicious dessert on a hot summer day. Avocados are very tasty chopped on top of a salad.

    Seeds, Nuts and Grains

    • Certain seeds, nuts and grains contribute to an alkaline balance in the body. Almonds are a delicious alkaline creating food. Flax seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds are also alkaline diet foods. Buckwheat groats and lentils are also excellent examples of alkaline diet foods.

    Fats

    • Some fats are known to create an alkaline effect in the body. Flax, hemp, avocado, olive and coconut oil are all examples of healthy alkaline oils. Olive oil is delicious drizzled on top of salads or baked vegetables, while others add hemp or flax oil to smoothies for a health benefit.
