      Winter weddings offer the couple a chance to have a seasonal them, from the decorations to the music and food. Winter squashes, citrus fruits and cranberries are some seasonal fruits and vegetables to look to for inspiration. If the wedding is near a holiday, you can look use that for inspiration as well.

    Fondue

      Fondue was the height of fashion in the 1970s, and it's enjoying newfound popularity. Fondue requires a heat source, such as chafing fuel or a candle, which can provide an atmosphere of warmth for a winter wedding. Chocolate fondue with a selection of fruits, marshmallows and cakes or cookies can be a snack or dessert, and cheese fondue with vegetables and breads can be an appetizer or snack. Small fondue pots that use tea-light candles as heating elements can be placed on individual tables or several can be set up around the room, giving people a chance to mingle and try different types of fondue.

    Soup

      If the weather is chilly, your guests might welcome the chance to warm up with a bit of soup. One way to offer a selection of soups is to serve small portions. Some caterers even serve these in shot glasses. These shots would work well as an appetizer.

      If you want your soup to play a larger role in your menu, try pairing it with a salad, using oblong platters to hold a cup of soup and a serving of salad. Dried cranberries and pears are some seasonal options to add to a salad.

    Main Dishes

      If you are serving a meal as part of your reception, hot, hearty main dishes are often called for during winter months. These main dishes can be roasted pork loin, prime rib, turkey, Cornish hens or fish. If you are serving the meal buffet-style, consider a chef-carved ham or roast beef. Pasta dishes are a more economical option.
