Savannah is a city of just over 132,000 in southeastern Georgia, according to the U.S Census Bureau. The city's Southern hospitality extends to kids. Parents have a variety of activities to entertain their kids. Activities include visiting the home of the founder of the Girl Scouts, a wildlife center and a railroad museum. - Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts on March 12, 1912, when she inducted 18 girls in Savannah. The organization--originally called the American Girl Guides--welcomed girls with disabilities, which was unusual at that time. Low herself was deaf. The Girl Scouts bought and restored Low's family home after members across the country raised money in the 1950s. Today, scouts and families visit the home to learn about Low's inspirational life and the organization.
