Natural Remedies for Slow Nail Growth
- Create a bath for your nails to help them grow. Mix together 1 tbsp. lemon juice and 1/2 cup olive oil in a shallow bowl. Soak your fingernails in the mixture for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse your nails with cool water and apply a moisturizing lotion onto nails and cuticles. Repeat this process weekly.
- Consume foods that are rich in biotin. Foods and beverages such as raspberries, goat milk, eggs, carrots, cauliflower and halibut are all rich in biotin, which will be absorbed by the keratin-rich parts of your body, including the nails. If these foods cannot be introduced into your diet in a significant amount, choose a biotin supplement.
- Massage the nails of your fingers and toes. This will increase blood flow and strengthen the nails, preventing breaks and brittle patches. Massage at least twice a day for five to 10 minutes and add a small amount of petroleum jelly to the nail bed. This will also provide much-needed moisture to the nails.
- Prepare a mixture of 1/4 cup aloe vera gel and 1 tbsp. sandalwood essential oil. Dip a cotton ball into the mixture and work it onto the nails, cuticles and the tips of the fingers and toes. Allow the mixture to sit for five to 10 minutes before rinsing it away with cool water. Perform weekly to help moisturize the area and stimulate nail growth.
