How to Replace Refrigerator Doors
- 1). Unplug the refrigerator.
- 2). Find the hinges on the side of the door, near the edge.
- 3). Remove the plastic caps that hide the metal screws underneath using a putty knife. Wrap the putty knife end with tape to keep it from damaging the door.
- 4). Tape the door closed to keep it from swinging open while you remove the top hinge.
- 5). Remove the screws that hold the top hinge in place using a screwdriver.
- 6). Remove the tape from the door and pull the door forward, then lift up to remove the door from the lower hinge.
- 7). Insert the new door in place by placing the tab of the lower hinge of the door in place. Line up the door using a level and insert the middle screw for the top hinge first, then the left and right screw. Tighten them down using a screwdriver then check that the door is straight using a spirit level. Adjust the screws until the door is straight.
