Hi. I'm Farm to Table chef Teca Thompson at tecathompson.com. And today we're talking about potting zucchini. So here I have a 5 gallon bucket and I've filled it most of the way full with all purpose potting soil. So this is an old used bucket as you can see so I've washed it out really good. You want to make sure whenever you're potting something in a older pot that's been planted something before that you wash it out real good, this way it doesn't spread disease to your new plant. So I'm just going to push it aside, the potting soil that is, and then I'm going to plant my zucchini right down in the middle of it. I'm going to take my little zucchini plant and I'm just going to plant it right down. I think I'm going to add a little more potting soil first, right down in the middle and then covering it all up with the potting soil. OK. So once we've done that we're going to water it in. Make sure that you choose a pot also that has a well drained system, which means it has holes in the bottom so the water can go straight through. And then we're going to tomato cage it. And zucchini just likes it, it just grows out and it spreads so it like to have support. So I'm just going to put the cage right over the zucchini. And then as it grows you can train it up the cage and it'll get support. If you want to set it in a spot that has 6 to 8 hours of sunlight a day and then remember to keep it hydrated because stuff in pots can definitely dehydrate a lot faster than if it was in the ground. It just drains faster and the soil gets dry. And that's pretty much it for potting zucchini. I'm Farm to Table chef Teca Thompson at tecathompson.com. Thank you for watching.
