Almost everyone has at least a little of it at one point or another in their life. Though acne is supposed to go away after the teens, it can persist for many years. A few whiteheads or blackheads or an occasional small red pimple can usually be tolerated. However persistent or severe acne is much more troubling. Many experts say that females that have the skin disease acne is caused by the hormones. The reason why you have acne though is not really important, knowing how to treat and cure acne is important however. If you're lucky enough to have all ingredients that make up natural cures to treat acne in your home, then you can cure it within a month, if you have a consistant plan in place, and your consistently with your daily cleansing routine.

Studies show that the earlier acne appears the more likely it is to be severe, so the popular idea that acne is only a teenage problem is erroneous. Teenagers are often more bothered by acne than they let on. I work a lot with adolescents and find that though they may not admit to their parents that their acne is distressing, it is a great relief to them when treatment clears their skin. Thankfully, there are many things you can do to treat hormonal acne.

1. Cleanse your skin twice daily with an oil-free cleanser. Daily cleansing will help to keep your skin clear of makeup, bacteria and other contaminants that can exacerbate your acne. Avoid cleansers that contain heavy soaps or scents as these can worsen your acne.

2. Another important aspect of skin care for people with acne is the use of moisturizers. Dry skin is particularly common in people who live in a northern climate. While women with acne usually have oily skin, when acne is treated, the skin often gets dryer.

3. You can use lemon juice and rose water to combat your acne. What you do is simple, you mix 50% lemon juice with 50% rose water to create an effective solution, you apply the solution to your acne infected areas, and wash off after 30 minutes or so. This is one of the best natural acne treatment.

4. Or you could go for the fresh garlic method, apply fresh garlic to your infected areas at night time, leave on overnight, then wash off in the morning. It's really as simple as that. If you're consistent applying these solutions, then you will be acne free sooner rather than later!

5. A kind of adult hormonal acne remedy related chemically to vitamin A. There are both external and oral retinoids. External retinoids are used to normalize the follicle cell lifecycle. They have milder side effects but, however, can cause skin irritation and initial flare up of adult hormonal acne within a couple of weeks. Oral retinoids are aimed to reduce the secretion of oils from the glands. They must be used very carefully because of their strong effect and many severe side-effects.

Many women with marked acne do not get enough clearing with these standard acne treatments. In this situation, treatment directed at the hormonal cause may produce much clearer skin. These approaches are not often used by dermatologists, who treat most acne. If you have persistent acne and want to consider this form of treatment, you may need to see a physician with special expertise in female hormone problems who might be a endocrinologist or a gynecologist. Be sure to check first because not all doctors who deal with female hormones work with acne.
