How to Make Bird Toys Using Leather
- 1). Lay out your leather pieces Depending on how you purchased your leather, you may have scraps, yards of leather string or leather beads.
- 2). Drill any holes necessary in your leather scrap pieces. Drill at least one hole per piece, in the center of each piece. Keep the holes at least a couple millimeters larger then the cotton rope or leather strip on which the pieces will be strung. For smaller projects, use a 3/8" drill bit.
- 3). String your pieces with cotton rope or your leather strips. Tie a knot after each piece has been strung, to hold the piece in place.
- 4). Separate the leather scraps using other toy parts such as wooden beads, plastic beads or dyed wooden pieces. You can create a pattern by stringing one leather scrap, a wooden bead, one leather scrap, a wooden bead. Repeat this until the toy is to your desired length.
- 5). Tie the toy off using a double knot. Hang in your bird's cage.
