Here are 3 tips to help you make your bird feel special.
- Give your parrot a shower once a week.
This helps to keep their feathers in good condition and also takes them back to their "roots", the rain forests.
Obviously not all birds will take to showering straight off but encourage them and persevere and they will learn to enjoy it.
You can put parrot and cage on the grass and use the garden sprinkler or take them out the cage and let them shower when you shower.
Or just use a squeeze bottle sprayed over the top of the cage. - Birds are fun and they like to do fun things.
Take your parrot with you when you go on outings.
Mine used to enjoy just going for a drive in the car.
Have fun with your bird.
If there is music on the tele or radio dance with your bird.
Make him feel like part of the family. - Where have you placed the cage? Parrots are very interactive and they like to be in the thick of things.
So the cage needs to be placed where your bird will be a part of the everyday goings on of your family.
It is no good putting bird and cage in the "spare" room and expecting to have a healthy well adjusted parrot.
You would be bored if you were on your own all the time and your parrot will be as well.
