Efficient writers discover good habits through change and practice as early in their career as possible.
Every writer faces opportunities and challenges in their career as a writer.
The external factors alone can be exasperating whilst the internal factors can be developed.
The writer who simply waits for his or her imagination to come up with ideas will take a long time to complete any work.
What can be done to improve these factors? 1.
Develop a time routine for your writing and take opportunistic moments.
I aim to find two hours each day but I do not always achieve my target yet on some weekend days, I have been known to work for 16 hours! Make writing a priority if you are a part-time writer.
2.
Develop a location routine for your writing and exploit every opportunity.
I keep my tools of trade in one place and store any distractions in another place.
My tools are always ready and potential distractions are eliminated! I also write when I travel so my tools are easy to pack.
3.
Turn more of your time towards your writing.
Think about your writing during those times when you are alone.
I find that driving and walking are the best times to mull over my next piece of work.
This makes my writing time more effective.
Some writers tell me that their best ideas come at night.
4.
Do not expect input from others either at work or home.
It seems that everyone want to provide advice, even when it is not requested.
I aim to seek constructive advice from people who understand what I am trying to achieve.
Quality advice is preferable to quantity advice.
5.
Edit your own work, at first.
I find that this process frees me during the creative phase to concentrate on the plot rather than the accuracy of the grammar.
I know that I will be reviewing the work.
6.
Keep a record of your time and achievements.
You will soon see what works best for you.
some writers find that they write creatively in the mornings.
find the time that suits you.

Create a database with your research information.
I include the names of characters, important events, and unusual matters in an electronic database.

Save your work regularly.
My back-up process occurs every half hour and it is automated.
The factors listed are simple to implement and will help focus the mind to being creative.
