- The Indiana Small Business Development Center, ISBDC, aids small businesses and entrepreneurs with business growth and job creation by providing management counseling, educational services and low- and no-cost information. The ISBDC is made up of 10 regional centers with the lead center headquartered in Indianapolis. The ISBDC has tools and resources including help with financial reporting, market research and strategic planning. It also offers small business owner guides and specialty programs in things like business plan writing or selling on eBay. The specialty programs available are specific to the regional office.
- Indiana has created a guide to help businesses keep track of their regulatory requirements in terms of licensing, taxes, employees and organizational and business structure. The guide has links to other resources like the Department of Revenue and the Department of Workforce Development. The Guide provides information on additional employer responsibilities including workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, labor laws and new hires reporting. The guide is available on the website, but can also be downloaded from the website in a PDF format.
- The mission of Purdue University Technical Assistance Program, TAP, according to the webpage, is to advance Indiana's economic prosperity, health and quality of life. The program uses Purdue University's resources in manufacturing, business management, information technology, product development and engineering to provide no cost, confidential consulting to companies, local governments and nonprofits in Indiana. Some of the programs and services provided by TAP include helping high energy cost companies with assessments and training, assisting small practices in implementing an electronic records system and faculty assistance projects that cover a wide range of business issues.
- The Women's Enterprise, WE, program is designed specifically to help women succeed on their own business ventures. It is the first Women's Business center in Indiana and was funded by the Small Business Administration. The program mission, according to its website says, the Women's Enterprise is to promote economic development through advocacy and assistance in entrepreneurship for women. WE has a mentoring program that provides assistance in areas like financial planning, starting a nonprofit and fundraising. Mentoring sessions are scheduled in one hour blocks. WE also offers seminars and classes in a wide range of things including computer programs, marketing and accounting.
