- 1). Examine a Discover card for the following: The embossed numbers on the front should be easy to read and partly cover the rectangular hologram on the right. They should always begin with "6000." The hologram itself is a rough spherical shape made of separate parts. It should turn as you turn the card. The number embossed on the front is repeated on the back and is followed by a three-digit security number.
- 2). Examine a American Express card for the following: The embossed numbers should be clear and easy to read, covering the portrait in the center. The numbers should always start with "37." The portrait should be sharp and very detailed. The number on the back should match the one on the front.
- 3). Examine a Visa card for the following: The embossed numbers on the front should be easy to read and partly cover the rectangular hologram on the right. The number should always begin with "4." The print numbers below these should be the same as the first four in the embossed number. The dove in the hologram should move when you move the card. Compare the signature on the back of the card to that on the sales receipt the customer signed.
- 4). Examine a MasterCard for the following: The embossed numbers on the front should be easy to read and partly cover the rectangular hologram on the right. The number of the card must match the sales receipt and must start with "5." The word "MasterCard" is repeatedly printed at an angle under the signature on the back.
