Sony Blu-Ray Player HDMI Output Is Not Recognized
- Check the ports where the HDMI cable is connected on the TV and the Sony Blu-ray player. If the HDMI cable is loose and not making a strong connection to either device, the device may not be recognized by the TV. Push the HDMI cable in to each port to make sure it's making a strong connection between the devices.
- Disconnect the HDMI cable from the Sony Blu-ray player to end the connection between the Blu-ray player and the TV. Reconnect the HDMI cable to the Blu-ray player to establish a new connection between the devices. Repeat this process a couple of times if it doesn't work initially before moving on to a new troubleshooting technique.
- Restart the TV and your Sony Blu-ray player to reboot both devices in case there is an internal issue with one of the devices that is preventing the HDMI signal from being outputted to the TV, such as if one of the devices is locked up.
- The output resolution from the Sony Blu-ray player may not be capable of being displayed on the TV. Check the list of supported HDMI resolutions on your TV and then change the output resolution from your Sony Blu-ray player to a compatible resolution that is capable of being displayed on the TV.
- The HDMI cable connecting the two devices may be defective. Replace the existing HDMI cable with another HDMI cable that you know works to see if that cable allows for the signal to be transferred. If that HDMI cable doesn't work, you may have a problem with the HDMI connection on the Sony Blu-ray player or the TV. Alternatively, you can use the component or composite connections to output the Sony Blu-ray player's video to the TV.
