How to Set up an HD Receiver for a 720P TV

    • 1). Consult your TV's manual. Look at the section on inputs to determine what inputs on your TV can receive in 720p. Then, choose whether to use an HDMI or a component video connection.

    • 2). Plug the cable you chose into the back of your HD receiver. If you chose HDMI, plug the cable into the slot labeled "HDMI." If you chose component video, plug the cables into the color coordinated Output or Video Out jacks.

    • 3). Plug the cable or satellite input cord into the back of your HD receiver. Look for a jack labeled Cable, Antenna or Satellite.

    • 4). Plug either the HDMI or component video cables, depending on which one you chose, into your 720p TV. Plug both the TV and receiver into electrical outlets and turn both of them on.

    • 5). Press the "Menu" button on your HD receiver remote. Find the source setup section of the menu and set the device to broadcast in 720p when appropriate.
