In 2015 Hohokam Stadium, sometimes referred to as Hohokam Park, received a major makeover after the Oakland Athletics signed an agreement to play their spring baseball here.

Hohokam Stadium used to be the Spring Training Baseball home of the Chicago Cubs. They moved to a new stadium Sloan Park (also in Mesa) starting in the 2014 season. In 2015 the Oakland Athletics moved into the renovated Hohokam Stadium.
