Using Online Social Networking to Market Your Business

You may love or loathe it but you cannot ignore it.
You just blinked and the world had changed.
Everyone is using Facebook and Twitter and any illusion you might have had that a closeted, socially minimalistic-type existence would be possible had been blown out of the water.
To enrich their life experience, hoards of people are seeking out others with the same interests, who share their passions and can make product recommendations based on first hand experience.
The implications this has for your business are mind shattering.
If you could just tap into that communication stream, you would have a ready and already well predisposed audience of potential customers.
This is why using online social networking to market has become so popular.
In the old days, advertisers would broadcast blurb about how wonderful their product was to the masses.
Well they would hardly say otherwise would they? The problem, of course, was that the public were not stupid and blatant self-promotion, in the form of advertisements, often fell on deaf ears.
Social networking offers a new approach.
Now, product review is peer to peer by word of mouth, which is far more believable to the masses.
So, if using online social networking to market your business is something you'd like to get into you may be wondering where to start.
Somehow, you need to make your entry into the network, most importantly, without ringing alarm bells, alerting fellow members to the fact that you are about to use old-school methods of spamming and hard sell which of course you are NOT.
You could simply become a member of a social networking site and build up a group of freinds or followers who have interests that might predispose them to your product.
Then, you could just join the conversation.
Alternatively, you could become a member of, for example a Facebook group, highly related to your product niche.
Better still, you could start your own Facebook group and slowly build up a tribe of enthusiasts that you can supply with information, invite to online and offline events and occasionally discuss your product with.
Over time, this would establish you as an expert in the field.
Hence, if you are thinking of using online social networking to market your product this would be an excellent first port of call.
